SURGERY ON SPINE AND SPINE CORD TUMOR
The spinal cord is the part that goes from the brain to the tailbone. This part allows the human body to coherence in between sections. In this part, which provides harmony between the arm, trunk and body, spinal or spinal cord tumors may occur.
In the spinal cord; tumors are usually found in the neck region in adults, and in the chest and waist region in children. The patient may first complain of neck, back, and low back pain. Spine and spinal cord tumor surgeries can be performed with open microsurgery. The risk is minimized by using a neuromonitoring device . The tumor is removed and the surgery is completed. The operation takes about 4-5 hours.
Postoperative
Severe pain may be experienced after the surgery, for this, strong painkillers given by the doctor are used.
After about 3 weeks, the patient be able to return the normal life. However, recovery time may vary depending on the condition of the patient and the tumor. In this process, attention should be paid to nutrition and drugs that should be used should not be neglected. The wound must be handled carefully to avoid infection.
