LİPOSUCTİON

Liposuction is the surgical operation of removing excess fat from the human body. The fat cells in the adult human body are constant. However, depending on the diet and lifestyle, the volume of the oil cells increases. The increase in volume is a result of weight gain. A suitable diet and exercise and a regular lifestyle are essential to avoid overweight. However, even those who meet these conditions may have stubborn fat that do not disappear. Certain parts of the body, such as abdomen, waist, hip, thigh and inner side, knee, are areas of fat accumulation that are resistant to diet and exercise. Excess fat in these areas is eliminated to some extent by diet and exercise, more exercise and diet results in the deterioration of the body’s general metabolism instead of thinning in these areas. Therefore, liposuction operation is preferred.

  • What is Liposuction Surgery?

Liposuction is a surgery in which fat is removed from the body by absorbing fat deposits in certain parts of the body with a special vacuum or special injectors. It is definitely not a weight loss surgery, it is a body contour correction surgery. With this surgery, while the fat tissue that is increased in volume and resistant to diet and exercise is removed from the body, the number of existing fat cells is also reduced.

Treatment Process

Liposuction surgery should be performed in hospital conditions in the operating room and under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. The combination of local anesthesia and sedation (intravenous sleep) is preferred. Only local anesthesia may be applied in very limited small areas. The operation takes between 1-5 hours, depending on the condition of the areas where vacuum will be applied. Cannula entry holes are usually not sutured or 1-2 sutures are placed. Sometimes, special thin pipes (resistors) are placed in the areas by using cannula holes, this helps to drain the serum accumulated inside.

In liposuction surgery, the stubborn fat zone is inflated by a special fluid injection Then, several incisions of a few mm length are made on or near this area. From these cuts, metal pipes, called cannula with a diameter of 2-6 mm, are inserted into the skin layer and cannulas are connected to the vacuum device with transparent hoses.

The vacuum device is operated and the process of removing excess fat starts by moving the cannulas at the appropriate depth in the fat deposited areas. The process of absorbing the fat with vacuum continues until the desired body contour and a smooth skin surface are achieved In recent years, ultrasound energy has started to be used. With this method, excess fat tissues are dismembered by ultrasound waves, then taken by vacuum in a similar way.

After Surgery

After the surgery, the patient is asked to wear a special corset for 3 weeks. Patients can go home after surgery. They can return to work in a few days. Swelling and bruises occur in the areas where fat is removed after the surgery. It takes about 4 weeks for the bruises to go away, and 2-3 months for the swelling to completely go down and the final result to appear. Physical exercise, massage or LPG applications applied after liposuction help reduce swelling faster and less fluctuation in the skin.
