Abdominal esthetic (Abdominoplasty).
The abdomen is a body area that reflects directly on the human appearance, which is esthetically important. Deformations such as skin rupture in the abdomen after childbirth, sagging in the abdomen as a result of relaxation of the muscles forming the abdominal wall, loosening, fat accumulation and swelling are common problems. Abdominoplasty, which is abdominal surgery, is called plastic surgery, which takes away excess skin and fat tissue in the middle and lower abdomen, which ensures the old tension and tightness of the abdominal wall muscles.
Although the results of tummy tuck surgery are technically permanent, the exercise program to be applied after the procedure and attention to weight will ensure that the result will continue for many years. Otherwise, if weight gain continues, the result can be highly affected. For this reason, those who are considering losing weight and planning a pregnancy in the future should postpone the tummy tuck surgery.
Treatment Process
There are two techniques applied for tummy tuck surgery.
These methods are;.
1.Total tummy tuck procedure (Total abdominoplasty).
- Mini tummy tuck procedure (Mini abdominoplasty).
While determining which of these two techniques will give the best result for the patient, it is checked how wide the problem in the abdomen has spread. If the existing problems are small and only concern the lower part of the belly button, mini tummy tuck surgery (mini abdominoplasty) is sufficient. If similar problems extend to the upper level of the navel, Total tummy tuck (total abdominoplasty) method is preferred.
During Total Abdominoplasty, all the excess skin and fat between a few cm above the belly button and the level where the inguinal region begins are removed. When you take the fat in this area between your hands, where the excess extends to the sides, the extreme points of this extension form the lateral borders of the skin to be removed.
All of the excess skin and fat to be removed with Mini Abdominoplasty (Mini Abdominoplasty) is below the navel level. Excess skin and fat are cut and removed. If there is relaxation and separation in the lower part of the abdominal muscles, the muscles are brought closer to each other and sutured. After this process, the upper leather edge is stretched downwards and sewn to the lower edge. In this surgery, the belly button is never touched. Cause of operation is performed in a limited area, it does not show its effect in the entire abdominal region. The area of influence remains just below the navel.
Abdominoplasty is a treatment method that must be done in a hospital environment with appropriate equipment. General anesthesia is applied in surgery. Abdominal surgery takes about 3 to 3,5 hours, sometimes 4 hours depending on the size of the abdomen. After surgery, hospital care is usually enough for 1-2 days, depending on the patient’s condition.
The Aftermath of Abdominal Surgery
3-4 hours after Total Abdominoplasty, the patient will be able to stand up and walk with the help of one person. After 1 day, the patient able to move completely unassisted. You can take a bath 2-3 days after the operation. A few days after surgery, you’ll be well enough to do your own work.
In the first week after the surgery, you should avoid movements that will put a load on your abdomen, such as straining, coughing, and heavy lifting. After 4-5 days, the patient may be able to travel by plane. After resting for 7-10 days, patient can return to work provided that does not work in heavy works.
Since the mini tummy tuck covers a narrower area, the operation time is also shorter. It usually takes 1-1.5 hours. The recovery period is also naturally softer and shorter. 3-4 days after the mini tummy tuck surgery , you can easily start working at the office.
