Laser Treatment and Lasik Method
Laser treatment is the most common method applied to eyes with myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism conditions. In cases where the conditions are not suitable; Personalized intraocular lens replacement surgery is performed for eyes that are not suitable for laser treatment.
The Lasik method is the correction of eye defects such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism with excimer laser. The aim of the laser method is to reshape the corneal tissue in myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism patients. Nowadays, the lasik method is one of the most preferred laser treatment methods.
Steps taken during the pre-operative examination are;

The patient can continue to eat before the operation. However, the patient should not put on make-up before the operation and should not use blood thinners.
Lasik treatment takes 4-5 minutes for one eye. This treatment does not cause pain or discomfort to the patient. There is no anesthetic in this treatment. Patients are asked to wait about 30 minutes after treatment and then will be re-examined. Patients can go home on the same day. The patient does not leave the room with the eye covered with a bandage.
Pain, burning or discomfort felt in the eye after treatment is a normal condition which generally lasts 3-4 hours. Patients who experience headaches are advised to take a painkillers that does not have blood thinning properties and given by the doctor.
After LASIK treatment, when can the patient return to a normal life?
In general, patients return to their normal lives the next day. Patients need to remember that the use of medication as recommended by the doctor is as important as Lasik treatment itself. Patients are advised not to enter the pool or the sea to avoid the risk of infection. After treatment, the patient needs to wear sunglasses for some time to protect the eyes. After one month after treatment, patients can use colored lenses for cosmetic purposes.
Who is suitable for LASIK treatment?
- Be at least 18 years old and wear glasses or lenses
- Whose eye grades have not changed more than 0.50 diopters in the last 1 year
- Whose with myopia up to 10 diopters
- Whose with astigmatism up to 6 diopters, hyperopia up to +4 diopters
- People with diabetes and rheumatism are not suitable for this treatment
- Whose have sufficient corneal tissue
- Whose do not have eye disease
- Whose had previously met the criteria for lasik treatment
